Marrickville is one of Sydney’s vibrant food suburbs filled with generations-old Greek businesses, hipster cafes, Vietnamese banh mi and pho cafes. Our walking safari is like being in My Big Fat Greek Wedding so we start in a hidden bakery with a Greek coffee and some authentic freshly baked pastries. Then we drive to colourful bustling Illawarra Road, Marrickville to visit a number of family-owned Greek businesses including a butcher with some of the best lamb and louganika (Greek sausages), taste and learn about the range of olives and fetta cheese, discover the best Greek bread shop in town and pop in to one of the newer places which prides itself on its pickling and preserving, a stylish cake shop, learn the secrets of yeeros, plus we introduce you to a classic Greek deli before settling into a traditional banquet-style lunch with wine.

Great fun day – thank you. Only complaint was that I/we ate far too much!!!
It was wonderful discovering a part of Sydney that I am not familiar with but shall certainly be visiting in the future. AJ (9.7.16)
