Start the day with a good coffee and croissant plus a pastry class.. then move onto one of Melbourne’s top patissiers before visiting one of Australia’s two charcutiers and indulge in some of the best from pate to duck confit and the famous saucisson. We then seek out some great sourdough made by a gifted baker who also makes an incredible dense fruit bread that is perfect to serve with the French cheeses you’ll taste later in the day. We journey into a fresh produce market to visit a truffle and mushroom expert and then enjoy a glass of bubbles and an introduction to some of the top French cookware and implements all at great prices; we’ll have a fabulous lunch and finish with a nice slice of cheese. Truly magnifique…for Francophiles who love to cook and those who simply love tasting the best.

I just wanted to pass on to you and Maeve how much I enjoyed the Melbourne French Food Safari yesterday.
Our host Damian was wonderful - thoughtful, patient and knowledgeable about all things French. His passion for delicacies from the charcuterie was infectious and I ended up buying some beautiful items from the gorgeous Muriel.
The entire day was perfect, loved the food at the Essential Ingredient, our host was incredibly generous with her knowledge, time and food! Again, I added delicious goodies to my esky bag. The pastries, cheese, bread and lunch were all amazing. The variety of the produce we sampled was a real treat and has inspired me to return to Melbourne to eat more of the divine offerings to be had across the city. Just a delightful day.
Please thank Damian again, my friend Felicity and I both thought he was a terrific host and lovely young man.
Many thanks again for these great, great tours. You are all an inspiration!
