TURKISH GOURMET FOOD SAFARI OF AUBURN

Local Food Safaris

Auburn is a little slice of Turkey in Sydney – from the heady aroma of kebabs cooking over charcoal to mounds of peppers, okra and persimmons, shops with all the authentic ingredients including spices and marinades, dips and more. Start with a Turkish coffee or tea and learn about Turkish food and ingredients then we’re guided to bakeries using traditional recipes to create golden fresh out of the oven pide; emporiums filled with spices and delicacies and implements including pretty tea glasses for apple tea; the best authentic Turkish Delight, our favourite butcher, and a showstopping lunch featuring many classic dishes.

Highlights:

  • Our exceptional food loving guides who share their culture and recipes
  • Getting the lowdown on a range of ingredients and a plan for a dinner party
  • Tasting some of the authentic sweets from Turkish Delight to pistachio baklava
  • Two course lunch with dips, soup, grills and salads
  • Feeling like you’re not in the white-bread suburbs – we give you an entree into an exotic place!

TRIP ADVISOR REVIEW - We have just had the opportunity to visit Turkey - well, that’s what Saturday’s Food safari felt like. We had an amazing time. The guides made us feel like a part of their families. They were very friendly, informative, approachable and generous (they were back at the Emporium at the end of the safari helping all of us with our purchases). The businesses of Auburn, that we visited, were also very kind, generous and delicious. Please thank all of them for us. We love Food Safaris! - L, Wollongong .................................................................................................... Just wanted to let you know that I especially enjoyed myself on Saturday on the Turkish Walking Safari. I will be going back in the near future to purchase some of the amazing foods that tantalised my tastebuds. Our tour host, was excellent. Providing us with lots of tradition about the food, recipes, including history of the Turkish people settling in the Auburn area...I will certainly be recommending this Safari to my friends. - JN .................................................................................................... This is a short note to let you know that Saturday's Turkish food safari led by Ulku was absolutely wonderful! Ulku is a warm, generous & informative host. We had a fabulous time.- Liz B
