Hello dear friends
Hope you’ve had a cracking winter of deliciousness and exploring, and the new season brings you bounce and new adventures. Thank you so much for all your feedback on my travels in Sardinia and Corsica, and quick family visit to the French Basque Country before finalising Portugal and Spain ahead of the safari starting this month. We’re now back to full strength on our safaris and loving offering the best food tours on the planet. Thanks for supporting them over the colossal 25 years we’ve been running. Our Sydney and Melbourne Safaris are full of brilliant experiences and dedicated hosts and our Australian safaris to Tasmania, South Australia and the Victorian High Country are full of wonder. International trips are filling fast and we are about to host our longest running safari – our beloved Greek Safari with chef Peter Conistis. |

Greek Islands |
|
I’m flying into Athens for our 22nd year of our Greek island Safari.
Travelling through 4 islands and visiting family homes, stylish restaurants, lazing on luxury boats, cooking with Australia’s top Greek Australian chef Peter Conistis…that takes a lot of beating! And the genuine welcomes we receive as Australians when we visit fresh produce markets who know if its early September, its time for the Aussies! We always travel at the same time every year, so please follow our adventures (@maeveomeara on Instagram and Maeve O’Meara’s Gourmet Safaris on Facebook) and let us know if you’d like us to put your name down for 2024 and 2025. Click here for more information If you’d like some books to immerse in that I’m reading ahead of our travels, we love historian Tony Whitefield’s stories – we meet him on Lemnos to hear stories of the Anzac campaign launched from the island. The Queen on Lemnos is available on Amazon and for a cookbook, the beautiful Sophie’s Cookbook from our friend Sophie Hapsi. Plus recently released Salt of the Earth by Carolina Doriti is a joy to read and I’m looking forward to cooking from it. Available through all good bookstores and The Greek Providore. |

Sydney Weekender |

It’s always fun to showcase what we do on a Gourmet Safari and to introduce our guides to a TV audience – we filmed our Indian Breakfast with the lovely Jono Fleming and crew in Harris Park and the story will go to air on Sunday 24th September at 5.30pm.Â
Great to see our Mumbai-born guide Bhavna (@themoderndesi) being her effervescent knowledgable self. Next breakfast is Saturday 30th September. Click here to book our Indian Breakfasts

Victorian High Country |
|
Thinking of a week of escaping the city for a week of exploring a regional area full of brilliant family businesses, renowned restaurants and wineries and inspiring primary producers?
Out Victorian High Country Safari is cracking…unpack once, hang out with Italian families who create world class wines and al fresco feasts; visit artists and artisan-producers, growers and warm family businesses.
With Franca Norris sharing her Italian food and culture and introducing us to many inspiring locals over the safari, plus the incomparable Patrizia Simone (from the beloved Simone’s of Bright) cooking in her home, it’s a unique and special week.
Come and enjoy the best the country has to offer in food and wine in the warm days of March – 3rd to 8th March. Click here to book. |

Banquet to End 2023 |
|
We love a waterfront feast especially when its cooked by our friend Peter Conistis at his incredibly stylish venue Ploos right on the water with views up to the Sydney Harbour Bridge and across to the Opera House.
We love the Eastern Mediterranean-inspired dishes and wines matched by Gapsted Estates. We start with Prosecco and then move into their range of cool-climate wines that go perfectly with Peter’s food.  Click here to book
Enjoy your Spring and send us any comments or thoughts.
