There’s a mix of young dynamic passionate chefs, growers and winemakers for you to meet, alongside the assured brilliance of those with 30 year careers.
Unpack twice – once in Adelaide in a luxurious new 4.5 star hotel in the fashionable East End, a walk to hip cafes, bars, boutiques and restaurants. From here we’ll explore some great places to eat as well as food experiences unique to this city. Plus two acclaimed produce markets where we’ll enjoy warm welcomes and tastes curated especially for us.
We’ll have a day in lovely McLaren Vale and hope to catch the annual olive harvest and pressing, tasting some world renowned oils …and wines – of course! Three wineries and a lunch and some wood fired pizza to finish. Plus enjoy a day in the Adelaide Hills in an adored restaurant open just for us. And we are delighted to have the sheer brilliance of our friend chef Salvatore Pepe cooking for us in his home using his wood-fired oven as seen on Food Safari Fire. Calabrese long Sunday lunch with Salvatore and Amanda Pepe – we are blessed! There are many quirky fun additions too including a special art gallery visit.
And then our second accommodation – we have the run of the exceptional highly awarded 5 star The Louise in the Barossa Valley, on a hill with the vines rolling out to the horizon.
It’s pretty magical …and there are so many special experiences from acclaimed restaurants to visits that celebrate the German heritage of the area and a special invitation to the home of a seventh generation Barossa farming family. We’ll taste wine overlooking the valley, visit producers big and small, have two cooking demonstrations from Matteo Carboni and Those Barossa Girls and so much more.
Like all our trips, its got a bit of everything, nicely paced, never too much food and certainly never too little! With many Italian restaurant and home hosts as well as Columbian, Vietnamese and in the markets French, Polish, and Moldavian. We are so excited to offer this new sparkling safari into the state that punches well above its weight.
