Hello dear friends
Hoping all is good in your lives and you’re out exploring and enjoying no matter what sort of weather is swirling around you. We are gearing up for the end of the year with some wonderful events: Lebanese Breakfast Safari this Saturday 29 October! Come and enjoy an abundant and delicious breakfast feast from our friends at Al Aseel Greenacre. Expect 9 dishes plus the restaurants signature mint and lemon drink, Lebanese coffee, commentary from our guide Judy Saba plus a visit to a nearby emporium full of freshly roasted nuts, spices, mountains of herbs, exotic cheeses, tahini, jams…it’s a treasure trove! Call Suzy on 89696555 or click here to book
Please join us for a Sri Lankan feast at Colombo Social on Saturday 5th November. Many delicious dishes and demonstrations of the street food favourite kotti roti, how to grind a fresh coconut and make pol sambol – we love that mother and son team Shiranie and Shaun Christie David do this together. Shiranie and her delicious traditional dishes from home in Colombo inspired her son Shaun to open the hugely popular Colombo Social restaurant in Enmore where we’ve hosted many of our Gourmet Safaris Enmore-Newtown safaris. We are delighted to be connected to the social enterprise Plate it Forward, where buying a degustation at Colombo Social or a lunch at the new Afghan Kabul Social means that money can flow to those in need. Brilliant! We have spaces available at this lunch with matched wines from our friends in the High Country with their cool climate wines – Gapsted Wines. Grab some friends and book a table or come by yourself. We will look after you! Click here to book.
South Indian breakfast Also just a few spaces left on this immersion into the spices and deliciousness of a true South Indian breakfast on Sunday 6 November. We’ll enjoy chai or the beloved ‘filter coffee” which sees brewed coffee poured from a great height over and over to make it frothy. We love breakfast and a show! There will be dosas and idlis, curries and chutneys and then a walk to explore some of the great food finds of Harris Park. Hosted by Maeve and Bhavna Kalra who recently appeared on ABC Breakfast to speak about Diwali traditions. Click here to book Happy Diwali to all! |

Limnos Event at Beta Bar
Join us on Tuesday 31 January, 2023, for very special event at the luxe Beta Bar in Sydney’s CBD with our friend chef Peter Conistis cooking from a beautiful cookbook which is being launched in Australia by its talented author Sophie Hapsi – Sophie’s Cookbook – Delicious Limnos Recipes for all Seasons. We are delighted that Sophie will be visiting from Limnos to join us. Sophie has been a wonderful part of our Greek Island Safaris for many years, hosting our guests in her seaside home and creating stylish and incredibly delicious dishes for us to enjoy with the tsipouro and ouzo made by her husband and son. Her book is a celebration of this hidden gem of an island, full of different seasonal produce and dishes that are easy to be recreate here in Australia. We’ll be joined by Sophie’s cousin Liz Kaydos who has guided many Gourmet Safaris Greek Islands safaris. Together, over 15 years ago they teamed up to make Limnos a special spot on the Greek Islands Safari tour. Sophie has supported Liz’s endeavours to promote the Anzac/Limnos story on Limnos and they can now rest easy as the Australian Government has approved funding for an Anzac Heritage Trail to be built on the island which will pay homage to the Australian Anzac soldiers and nurses who served on the island in 1915, and for the 148 Australian Anzacs buried on the island. If you love Greek food, have travelled with us to Greece or simply want learn more about one of the lesser known islands, this event will be simply magic with Greek wines from our friends at Earlwood Wines. Click here to book.
Lunch by the sparkling Sydney harbour with sweeping views across to the Opera House and up to the Sydney Harbour Bridge, plus the incredible feast created by chef Peter Conistis – we LOVE this special event which is one of the absolute highlights of our year. Join us for a Long Lunch at Ploos on Saturday 25th February at 12.30pm. The menu is always created especially for these events, comes in many parts and is finalised closer to the event. This always books fast! Click here to book. |
